Smart Water Reuse: A Plug-and-Play Skid to Protect Switzerland’s Resources

The REUSE skid is a compact, plug-and-play unit that recycles treated wastewater for non-potable uses like irrigation, cooling, and cleaning. Modular and autonomous, it reduces the demand on drinking water networks. Every drop reused is a drop left in aquifers, rivers and lakes – protecting ecosystems and supporting long-term water resilience.

What issue does your project address, and why do you want to tackle it?

Switzerland faces increasing drought and freshwater pressure. Our autonomous skid reuses lightly polluted water for non-drinking applications by creating a second pressurized network. It’s a safe, local and efficient solution that preserves clean water for essential needs and protects natural reserves.

What is your project about and how does it make Switzerland water-wise?

Our skid transforms lightly polluted water into a safe resource for non-drinking uses, creating a second pressurized water network. With flow rates from 5 to 50 m³/h, it supports cities, industries, and agriculture in reducing drinking water demand and improving local water efficiency with a compact, autonomous system.

How do you measure your project's success?

We measure success by the volume of wastewater treated. 1 m3 reused = 1 m3 of drinking water saved = 1 m3 of water that stay in the nature. Each REUSE skid can save thousands of m³ of freshwater per year. Fish love it !

Who are the people behind the project and what is your secret to a great collaboration?

1h2o3 was founded by Nicolas Meudal, a water engineer with 15+ years of end-to-end experience in the field — from plant design and construction to sales and operations. His expertise ensures technical excellence. Around him, a network of skilled freelancers (Safidy, Sebastien, Gerald) contributes in key areas like digital marketing, finance, logistifs or commissioning. Our secret? Deep water knowledge, lean structure and expert-driven collaboration.
