LikeWater – Swiss Water Body VR Platform
LikeWater is an existing VR platform with over 2,000 users (funded by #hallowasser). We now open it to water-related partners to create their own immersive level and share their local water story. With a simple, design-driven process, we bring water bodies to life. The result: a shared, emotional platform that makes hidden worlds visible and inspires people to care about water - especially those who are hard to reach.
What issue does your project address, and why do you want to tackle it?
People see water only at the surface, unaware of fragile systems like groundwater, glaciers, or underwater habitats. This limits care and sustainable use. VR can reveal these worlds but is too costly for most institutions. We offer a low-entry platform to make immersive, educational storytelling accessible.
What is your project about and how does it make Switzerland water-wise?
It’s a VR platform where any Swiss partner can create an immersive level telling their local water story. Together we build a shared, emotional collection of Switzerland’s precious water bodies. It’s a playful, educative, interactive attraction that makes hidden worlds accessible and engages even hard-to-reach audiences for conservation.
How do you measure your project's success?
Partner uptake (number of custom levels), number of people reached via schools, museums, events, and user surveys to assess learning and attitude change. Long term: broad use by Swiss water bodies and NGOs to educate and inspire the public to protect water resources.
Who are the people behind the project and what is your secret to a great collaboration?
At Somebodyelse, we co-create with partners to balance technology, science, art, and education. Our core strength is making complex topics accessible through immersive experiences. We have strong experience engaging the general public, institutions, museums, educators, mixed-age groups (young and old), multilingual, and low-literacy audiences.
