Spotlight 2024

Develop the world’s first T-Eco Resort in the Swiss Alps.

We conserve biodiversity to benefit people and nature by integrating Science and academics by providing an onsite real-world laboratory. Science and academics to tangle the visitors of the T-Eco resort.By concentrating our buildings on one space and renature the used landscape we will conserve the existing biosphere but also give it the opportunity to expand.

What issue does your project address, and why do you want to tackle it?

Energy production on-site without intervention in the protected moorland regarding small wind turbines will be installed on the masts of our ski lifts, our small hydropower will be generated using our water turbines, and photovoltaic panels will be integrated on the planned new building, which will replace the five old buildings.
Water management regarding Water sourcing on site as well as water wastewater treatment on site.

What is your project about and how does it make tourism in the Alps future-proof?

Our project focuses on tourism in the Alps for the next decades. There will be a massive shift from wintertourism towards spring, summer and autumn. We want to conserve the existing nature to provide the uniqueness of the Heuberge for tourism around the year and not invest into artificial snowing or mass displacements for ski slopes. Our lighthouse project will inspire other destinations in the Alps to face climate change in a similar way.

How do you measure your project's success?

For example, we are already measuring CO2 reduction by using our Sauna instead of heating it conventionally. So, we have a clear vision of how we will measure the impact of our future resort. Since educational tourism and cooperation with the scientific community is one of the pillars of our T-Eco resort the visitors of the Heuberge will face a wide range of topics. Regarding their stay in our resort, which will make them more open to the necessary change.

Who are the people behind the project and what is your secret to a great collaboration?

Since we founded the HEF (Heuberge Ecologic Forum) in the year 2019, (after which we designed the Solarsauna) with about 60 participants and we already had two further Forums one regarding the goals and challenges of T-Eco and the other entangling the future mobility in our resort we have a strong collaboration with different stakeholders. We know how to engage the challenges that alpine tourism will face within the next decade. The Forums are the perfect driver for needed solutions.
